What are we spending our screen time on?
From the data collected from studying “Our time” at Western Sydney University, we can observe the time uses on student screen time and what they are used for.
We can see in the bar chart below, what is the most popular form of technology used by students, it is very clear that the desktop is most frequently used followed by laptop, mobile, tv and then the tablet. We can make assumptions as to what these are used for but i think the results may interest you.
In the chart below we can see what each student is spending their screen time on, upon observation despite the desktop being the most used platform we can see that the mobile is the most frequent recurrence between the categories probably because of its versatility, we can also see that there are quite a few students that don’t watch tv, but we can surmise that from the increase in laptop and desktop time in their recreation they may be using this as a replacement.
In the chart below it goes into further detail as what students are spending their screen time on, we can see that work and uni are the main reasons we use our technology for followed by recreation, in this we can see from my precious observation that the desktop and laptop are frequently used for watching tv or Netflix more so than the actual TV.
